Leadership by example.

Lloyd P. Elfner founded Chinook Refrigeration & Air Conditioning in 1966, infusing the new company with his desire to provide the highest level of service to every client. As the company grew and new employees joined, they too adopted Lloyd's tradition of delivering high-quality service.

In 1972, Chinook welcomed Geoff Vachon, who brought a new style of customer care and business excellence to the company. In 1980, Geoff's wife Janice (Lloyd's daughter) came on board to help grow the business. Through the 80s, Lloyd began handing the reins to Geoff and Janice. In 1991, Lloyd passed the company into their very capable hands, where the company continued to grow and flourish.

Lorne Kemp started at Chinook in 1988 as a journeyman technician, becoming a service manager by 1995. Five years later, Lorne, with his wife, Kim, along with Geoff and Janice Vachon, began a ten-year succession plan. With a sharp eye on Lloyd's original ideals, the management team steadily continued to cement Chinook's reputation by consistently delivering the high level of service that the company's clients are accustomed to.

In November 2010, Lorne and Kim completed the process of succession - taking over the company that he had worked so long to help shape. For the next six years, Chinook grew steadily under Lorne's stewardship.

Today, a new ownership group, made up of long-time Chinook employees Sheena Fraterman, Lynn Foreman, Kevin Kisinger, and Iver Bonyai, have forged their own succession plan with Lorne. Chinook Refrigeration will continue to grow, while honouring the heritage of the company – providing each client with the highest level of personal service and care.
